Hongik University Station (홍대입구역) — universally known as Hongdae — is one of Seoul's busiest stations. It is served by Metro Line 2, the Gyeongui-Jungang Line, and the Airport Railroad Express (AREX), which provides a connection to Incheon Airport via the AREX all-stop train in about 53 minutes.

Hongdae is unlike any other station in Seoul. Surrounding the famous art university, the district is dense with indie music venues, busking spots, all-night clubs, quirky cafés, and an enormous number of guesthouses and short-term rentals. For travellers, this means two things: the area is magnetic enough to spend hours in, and the demand for luggage storage — especially during the check-in/check-out gap — is exceptionally high.

Nearby Yeonnam-dong (연남동) and the Gyeongui Line Forest Park offer a quieter contrast — perfect for a café afternoon while your bags are stored. Exit 8 and 9 lead directly to the main Hongdae street and busking zone; Exit 3 connects to Yeonnam-dong and the AREX platforms. With heavy luggage, the elevator at Exit 3 or 4 is strongly recommended given the long vertical distance between the AREX and Line 2 platforms.
