Q1 What is LuggageSnap?
LuggageSnap is a free service that shows real-time coin locker availability at major subway stations in Korea and Japan. Before you travel to a station, you can check how many small, medium, and large lockers are currently empty — so you don't arrive with heavy bags only to find every locker full.
Q2 Is LuggageSnap free to use?
Yes. Checking locker availability, prices, and locations on LuggageSnap is completely free. We earn a small commission only when travelers choose to use a partner service (see Q9), at no extra cost to you.
Q3 Which cities and stations does LuggageSnap cover?
LuggageSnap currently provides detailed station pages for major stations in Tokyo (Shibuya, Shinjuku, Tokyo Station, Ueno, Akihabara) and Seoul (Seoul Station, Hongik University, Myeongdong, Gangnam, Jamsil). Our live map covers a wider set of stations across both cities, and we are steadily adding more.
Q4 How accurate is the locker availability data?
The numbers shown are based on real-time data and updated approximately every 10 minutes. Please note that availability can change quickly — especially for large lockers on weekends — so the count reflects the most recent reading, not a guarantee. We recommend checking again right before you head to a station.
Q5 Why do some stations have real-time data and others don't?
Coverage depends on the data source. For Seoul, locker data comes from the Seoul Metropolitan Government public API. For Tokyo, data is gathered from locker availability sources. When a data source is temporarily unavailable or a station isn't covered, real-time numbers for that station may be missing or delayed. In those cases, partner storage (see Q9) is a reliable alternative.
Q6 How much do coin lockers cost?
Prices differ by country. In Korea, station lockers are typically charged per 4-hour block — around ₩3,100 (small), ₩4,600 (medium), and ₩6,100 (large) on weekdays, with higher rates on weekends. Additional blocks are charged at the same rate. In Japan, lockers are usually charged per calendar day, commonly ¥300–¥900 depending on size. Exact prices vary by station, operator, and day of the week.
Q7 What should I do if all the lockers are full?
Full lockers are common on weekends and during peak travel seasons. If the station lockers are full, you can use a partner luggage storage service near the station, or have your bags delivered directly between your hotel and the airport (see Q9).
Q8 What are the operating hours of coin lockers?
Most station coin lockers follow the subway's operating hours — generally available from the first train to the last train. In Korea, lockers inside the station are not accessible after the subway closes for the night. Japanese stations vary, and some locker areas are accessible for longer hours. Always plan to retrieve your bags before the last train.
Q9 What are the "Find Partner Storage" and "Luggage Delivery" buttons?
These connect you to partner services. "Find Partner Storage" links to Bounce, a luggage storage network with locations near major stations. "Luggage Delivery" links to Klook's service, which transports bags door-to-door between hotels and airports. These are affiliate partnerships — LuggageSnap may earn a small commission if you book through these links, at no additional cost to you. We include them because they genuinely help when station lockers are full or unavailable.
Q10 The locker information looks incorrect. How can I report it?
We appreciate corrections. If you notice locker counts, prices, or locations that look wrong, please email us at
support@luggagesnap.app. Accurate data benefits every traveler, and we review reports regularly.
