It started with a locker that wasn't there.
In January 2026, I arrived in Akihabara, Tokyo, dragging a heavy suitcase after a long flight. My hotel check-in wasn't for hours, so I did what every traveler does β I looked for a coin locker. The first bank of lockers was full. So was the second. I spent nearly an hour walking from station exit to station exit, suitcase wheels rattling, before I finally found one free large locker.
Coin lockers have data. It just wasn't being shown.
It turned out that locker availability data did exist. In Korea, the Seoul Metropolitan Government publishes real-time locker information through a public API. In Japan, availability can be gathered from locker operators. The data was there β it just wasn't presented anywhere a traveler would actually look, on a map, in plain language, before leaving for the station.
That's the gap LuggageSnap fills.
Check before you go.
LuggageSnap shows real-time coin locker availability at major stations in Seoul and Tokyo. You can see how many small, medium, and large lockers are currently open, what they cost, and where they are β all before you arrive.
When station lockers are full, we point you to nearby partner storage and luggage delivery options so you're never stuck holding your bags. The service is free for travelers to use.
Honest data, clearly sourced.
We believe travel tools should be honest about what they know and don't know. Our locker counts come from real-time data sources β the Seoul public API for Korea, and locker availability sources for Japan β refreshed approximately every 10 minutes.
When a data source is temporarily unavailable, we say so rather than showing stale numbers as if they were live. Availability can change fast, so we always encourage checking again right before you head out.
A new project, growing carefully.
LuggageSnap is new β it grew out of that January trip and launched in 2026. We started with a handful of stations in Tokyo and Seoul, and we're expanding station by station β verifying each one rather than mass-producing pages.
